Kenneth E. Brindle, 87, of Fannettsburg , PA , died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 21, 2009 in the Chambersburg Hospital ER. Born on May 7, 1922 in Pleasant Hall , PA , he was a son of the late Alfred O. and Erma Keefer Brindle. He was the widower of Ruth C. Myers Brindle, who died on May 27, 2003. They married on December 21, 1946.


After graduating from the former Newville High School , Kenneth served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, earning 11 Bronze Stars. A lifelong farmer, he retired in from farming in 2001, but continued to work as an IRS enrolled agent with H&R Block, owning and operating several local franchises, where he served clients for over 38 years. A past member of the Fannett-Metal school board, he served as the secretary and treasurer for Metal Township and Fannett-Metal School District . He was also a past president of the Path Valley Lyons Club, where he held numerous other offices. He was a member of the American Legion, Wesley Yeager Post 606 in Fort Loudon , and he attended the Amberson United Methodist Church .


Surviving are five sons, James A., and wife, Valinda L. of Hiram , GA , Richard L., and wife, Linda K. of Pleasant Hall, LTC Gary L. U.S. Army (Ret.), and wife, Cheryl A. of Nokesville , VA , Ray E., and wife, Donna M. of Shippensburg, and Rodney K., and wife, Freda L. of Fort Loudon; one sister, Mae Divelbiss, of Chambersburg; three brothers, William and Melvin Brindle, both of Chambersburg, and Donald Brindle of Maryland; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Aside from his wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Geisler, and a brother, Harold Brindle.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2009 in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road , Chambersburg . The Rev. Harold E Yeager and Rev. Menno Sollenberger will officiate. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hall Cemetery , where members of the Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post 1599 Honor Guard will conduct military graveside honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, and from 9-10 AM Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Metal Township Fire Company, PO Box 185 Fannettsburg , PA 17221 .
