Esther R. Gloeckler, 75, of Benson, NC and formerly of Chambersburg, PA, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 in the Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. Born on March 16, 1934 in Chambersburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Norman J. and Elsie M. Pine Eshelman. She was the widow of Paul L. Gloeckler, who preceded her in death on August 7, 2007.


Years ago, Esther, along with her husband, owned and operated the former Paul's Market in New Franklin, PA. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Smithfield, NC, and a former member of the New Franklin Assembly of God and Bethel Assembly of God, both in Chambersburg.


She is survived by three children, Rev. Norman Gloeckler of Marion, PA, Norma J. Coley of Benson, NC, and Mary Anne Kauffman of Moneta, VA; three sisters, Betty Porter, Mary Smith, and Doris Myers; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 13, 2010 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, with her son, Rev. Norman Gloeckler officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 AM on Saturday in the funeral home.
