Esther M. Mills, 99, a guest at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of 628 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, November 16, 2008 in the nursing home. Born May 22, 1909 in St. Thomas, she was a daughter of the late Joseph W. and Emma S. Lowens Walck. Esther was a homemaker most of her life. As a child, she attended and was baptized in the St. Paul Reformed Church of Marion. She had a great love for animals, especially cats. Her beloved husband, Arthur F. Mills, preceded her in death on August 10, 1955.
She is survived by a son, Delnore F. "Dilly" Mills and wife Sandra of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren, Marina Mills Tolbert of Chambersburg, Joseph Mills of Dauphin, Ryan Mills of Mercersburg, William "Denny" Mills of Fannettsburg, Robert Mills and Wanda Matthews, both of Manheim, and Cathy Mills Suders, who resides in the state of Washington; twelve great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Eugene E. "Ed" Mills on May 19, 1994, a grandson, Delnore F. Mills, Jr., three brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, November 20, 2008 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Chaplain Chuck Ryan will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home.
