Frances J. Doherty, age 70, of Chambersburg, and formerly of Long Island, NY, died on Friday, November 14, 2008, following her battle with cancer. Born on January 27, 1938 in Queens, NY, she was a daughter of the late James H. and Margaret Garrity DeVoe. A member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Long Island, she had lived with her family in Chambersburg since retiring three years ago.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Debra Ann (and husband, Ray) DeMott, and two grandsons, James and Daniel DeMott, all of Chambersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Doherty, and her brother, James DeVoe Jr. Private graveside services will be held in the St. Charles Cemetery in Farmindale, NY. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
