Ray F. Brookens, 82, of Fayetteville, died at 4:55AM Tuesday September 7, 2010 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 9, 1927 in Fayetteville Ray was the son of the late Solomon R. and Rosalie R. Geyer Brookens. He retired as a water analyst from the Borough of Chambersburg Water Treatment facility. Ray was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and gardener. A US Army veteran, he was a long time member of Burt J. Asper Post #46 American Legion.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Moyer Brookens. Ray is also survived by one son, Steven R. and wife Patricia Brookens of Chambersburg, one daughter, Sharon K. and husband Stephen J. Holoviak, 2 grandchildren, Justin and Brooke Holoviak, 2 step-grandchildren Stephen "Paige" and Kelly Holoviak, a sister Romaine Martin and a brother Dwain Brookens, both of Chambersburg.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 11, 2010 at 10:00AM in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, PA 17202. Reverend Paul B. Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow in Lincoln Cemetery.
