Carroll H. Stoutamyer, 79, of Fayetteville, PA, died at 12:04 AM Monday, August 30, 2010 at ManorCare Health Services. Born July 21, 1931 in Staunton, VA, he was a son of the late Roy Bowman, Sr. and Clara Hartman Stoutamyer. Carroll served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He began a career in trucking in 1954 and then worked as an independent truck driver for 28 years, retiring in November of 2000. He was a member of King Street United Brethren Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Katie Stoutamyer, whom he married November 17, 1976; a brother, Roy Bowman Stoutamyer, Jr.; and a sister, Glenna Michael, all of Chambersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker and Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Military honors will be provided by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 11:30AM to 12:30PM Thursday at the funeral home.
