Fred A. Lehman, age 90, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at Menno Haven Nursing Home on Monday, August 23, 2010. Born June 14, 1920 in Scotland, PA; he was the son of the late Amos F. and Maggie Martin Lehman.

Mr. Lehman worked at the H.J. Heinz Company in Chambersburg for 35 years until its closing. He then went to work for Lutheran Social Services. He was a member of the Chambersburg Mennonite Church. He enjoyed being the camp cook during deer camp and growing vegetables and selling them to the local people and to Kenny's market; he also enjoyed talking about the weather and walking at the Chambersburg Mall.

Surviving are his children: Lucille "Lucy" Sauder (husband Gerald "Jerry") of Lititz, PA and Eugene R. "Gene" Lehman (wife Julie of Chambersburg, PA; his grandchildren: Garrick Sauder (wife Virginia) of York, PA; Brad Sauder of Pittsburgh, PA; Brenten Lehman (wife Sueann) of Shippensburg, PA; and Christy Lautenslager (husband Ty) of Chambersburg, PA; his great grandchildren: Scarlett and Jazmin Lehman and Bryn, Bethany, and Marc Sauder; as well as a brother, Robert Lehman of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Nellie Wadel Lehman, whom he married on June 12, 1943 and son, Carlton Lehman and six siblings, Cora Lehman; Florence Horst; Anna Horst; Margaret Rosenberry; and Harvey and Melvin Lehman.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10 AM at the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, 1800 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201; where Pastor Jerry Roth will officiate. Friends will be received on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 6-8 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202 and at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family requests the omission of flowers and if desired contributions be made in his name to the Menno Haven Benevolant Fund, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the above church and address.
