Emanuel M. Klawansky, 83, formerly of 1730 Clinton Avenue, Chambersburg, PA, died at 12:39 AM Friday, August 13, 2010 at Menno Haven. Born July 21, 1927 in Lykens, PA, he was a son of the late Rueben L. and Bessie Bertha Sperling Klawansky. Emanuel served in the US Navy. He and his wife owned and operated the Village Garden Center in Marion for 35 years retiring in 1990. Emanuel had also been employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring from there in 1972. He was a former member of the Greencastle Lions Club. His beloved wife, Thelma Miller Klawansky, preceded him in death on December 26, 2009.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen L., wife of Dale Kennedy of Chambersburg; three grandchildren; Lisa Neil of Chambersburg, Pa., Kristine, wife of Chris Morgan of Carlisle, Pa., Michael Kennedy of Woodbridge, Va., and two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Emma Morgan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Richard Klawansky.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 20, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Chaplain Vernon Isner will officiate. Private interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
