Cremation Choices Built Around Your Family

Cremation is rarely a single decision. It is a series of choices about whether to gather, when, and how you will remember someone afterward. Whether your family wants something simple and private or a full service with friends from across Franklin County, we will lay out each path clearly and let you decide at your own pace.

Direct Cremation

A simple, affordable choice with no formal service beforehand. Your family is free to plan a private remembrance later, on your own schedule and in your own way.

Funeral Service Followed by Cremation

A full visitation and funeral with your loved one present in a cremation casket, followed by cremation. It suits families who want a traditional farewell while still choosing cremation.

Memorial Gatherings with or without the Urn

Gather at our chapel, your church, or another meaningful place after cremation has taken place. Because there is no rush, many families schedule the memorial for a date when relatives can travel in.

Environmentally Conscious Containers

Biodegradable cloth-covered cardboard and fiberboard containers are available, along with plain cardboard alternatives offered at no additional charge.

Urns, Keepsakes, and Final Resting Places

Keep the remains at home in an urn from our selection, place them in a cemetery plot or columbarium niche, or scatter them somewhere that meant something to your loved one. We will explain each option so the choice is fully yours.

Why Our Own Crematory Matters to South Green Families

Many funeral homes send loved ones to outside cremation vendors, which means transport off site and care by people the family never meets. That handoff never happens here. Certified crematory operators on our own staff oversee every step inside our Chambersburg facility, and as members of the Cremation Association of North America (CANA), we follow strict ethical and identification standards throughout the process.

Before any cremation takes place, immediate family members confirm their loved one's identity in one of our private family viewing rooms. It is a small step that removes every doubt. Because the crematory is ours, we can often complete the process faster than providers who wait on a third party, and you will always know exactly who to call with a question.

Behind that care is a family that has worked in funeral service since 1919 and has owned and operated this Chambersburg firm since 1983. Our General Price List is published openly, and our staff reviews it with you so every cost is understood before you commit to anything.

About South Green, Pennsylvania

South Green takes in the southern end of Greene Township, the part of eastern Franklin County where the township meets Chambersburg to the southwest and Fayetteville along its southern border. The township is named for Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene, and it has grown steadily over the past two decades, from 12,284 residents in 2000 to 18,436 at the 2020 census. Newer neighborhoods sit alongside long-established farms here, with the ridges of South Mountain rising to the east.

Lincoln Way East, the historic Lincoln Highway and today's US Route 30, is the backbone of the area, running from Chambersburg through Fayetteville and on toward Caledonia State Park and Gettysburg. Part of Caledonia State Park lies within Greene Township, and the Totem Pole Playhouse has staged summer theater inside the park for generations. The Chambersburg Mall on Black Gap Road (PA 997) and quick access to Interstate 81 at Exits 16 and 20 keep everyday errands and travel close to home.

Getting to Us from South Green

Our funeral home is about ten minutes from most South Green neighborhoods. Head west on Lincoln Way East (US 30) toward Chambersburg. As you approach the Interstate 81 interchange at Exit 16, turn left onto Falling Spring Road beside Hoss's Steak & Sea House, then continue a short distance south to 333 Falling Spring Road. If you are closer to the Chambersburg Mall, take I-81 south from Exit 20 to Exit 16 and make the same turn onto Falling Spring Road. Parking is available on site.

If the drive is difficult for anyone in your family, simply let us know when you call. We are glad to meet with you at your home in South Green to begin arrangements.
