Funeral Services in Green Village, PA

Green Village has been part of the Franklin County landscape since it was laid out in 1793, and many of the families who live along the Cumberland Highway today have roots that run just as deep. Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center is honored to serve them. From our home at 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg, about 15 minutes away, we plan funerals grounded in local tradition and personal detail. Call (717) 264-6416. We answer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How We Help Green Village Families Say Goodbye

Every family we meet arrives with its own traditions, faith, and sense of what feels right. Our job is to listen, lay out the choices honestly, and then take care of the details so you can spend these days with the people who matter most.

Personalized Tributes

A tribute video, a table set with her quilts or his fishing gear, favorite hymns, or a favorite song. Small touches like these help a service feel like the person it honors.

Military and Veterans Services

Green Village sits just beside Letterkenny Army Depot, and service to country runs through many families here. We coordinate the military honors a veteran earned and help with the benefits paperwork.

Burial and Cemetery Coordination

We work directly with the cemetery on scheduling, the opening of the grave, and any church or family plot requirements, so nothing falls to you on the day of the service.

Preplanning Your Own Arrangements

Our preplanning checklist and online form make it easy to begin, and we are always glad to finish the conversation in person when you are ready.

A Funeral Home Green Village Families Can Know Personally

Thomas Geisel graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1978 and moved his family to Chambersburg in 1980. Three years later he purchased the John O. Park Funeral Home, and in 1993 he built our current home on Falling Spring Road. He carried forward a family tradition that began in 1919 in Pleasantville, Pennsylvania, and four generations of the Geisel family have now devoted their working lives to caring for grieving families.

That history shapes how we work today. When you call, you reach our own staff rather than an answering service far away. Our 13,000 square foot facility includes a chapel, private family rooms, and an on-site crematory for families who choose cremation, and our work has been recognized with Franklin County's Best honors and a 2023 Community Choice Award.

Our care does not end at the cemetery. We offer online obituaries with a memorial guestbook, a year of weekly grief support messages, and Lunch & Learn events that answer practical questions about planning ahead.

About Green Village, Pennsylvania

Green Village is one of the oldest settlements in Greene Township. The village was platted in 1793 and named for the township, which honors Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene, and over the years it has also appeared on maps as Greene Village and Greenvillage. A Green Village post office opened in 1813 and served the community until 1915. Today the village sits at the crossroads of US Route 11 and PA Route 997, between Letterkenny Army Depot to the west and the community of Scotland to the east, with Culbertson just up the road.

Letterkenny Army Depot has shaped this corner of the county since 1942, when the Army opened it as an ammunition storage site. The depot now repairs and modernizes air and missile defense systems and employs more than 2,300 people, many of whom live nearby. On the depot grounds stands the James Finley House, built around 1778 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Around the village, farmland still frames the homes and small businesses along the Cumberland Highway, much as it has for more than two centuries.
