Ada Ruth Higgins

Ada Ruth Higgins, age 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at providence Place of Chambersburg. Born January 2, 1940, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Helen Miller.

Mrs. Higgins was a 1958 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. She worked in food service throughout her adult life working at Stoner’s Drive-In, CASHS Cafeteria for 20 years, retiring in 2010 and at Hat’s Heros before finally retiring. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends and playing Bingo. Ada was raised in the Milton Wright Children’s Home and fostered by the late Robert and Mary Smith.

Surviving three children, Mary E. Nicholson of Fort Loudon, PA, Richard “Dickie” E. Higgins, Jr. of Lewes, DE, and Timothy J. Higgins of Shippensburg, PA; two grandchildren, Ashley Higgins and Kane Kelly; one great-grandchild, Kacerra Shivers; a sister, Anna Mae Miller of VA; numerous nieces, nephews, and a special great nephew, Michael Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Higgins in 2014 whom she married on August 14, 1958; a daughter, Peggy Sue Higgins; and sister, Grace Wright.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 11, 2026, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
