Carol Rohr

November 8, 1941 — April 15, 2024

Carol Janet (Dunnavant) Rohr, 82 went home to meet her savior, Lord Jesus Christ, on Monday, April 15, 2024, in Chambersburg, PA at Menno Haven’s Rehabilitation Center. Born on the Berry homestead in Farmville, VA on November 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Lillian Berry Dunnavant and Ellis Courtney Dunnavant.
Carol graduated from the University of Maryland. She later worked for the Montgomery County Public School system in Maryland, where she met Phil. Carol and Phil were both avid golfers. They sponsored many golf tournaments while living in Penn National. Carol was an active member in the Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She had a large collection of antique ornaments and special wooden ornaments that were made by dear family and friends. Carol loved the game of golf, Mah-jongg, home decorating, baking apple pies, making her favorite deviled-eggs and enjoying Diana’s wonderful home-made fudge at Christmas time. Carol maintained a collection of everything related to swans. When she and Phil lived in Land Fall in Wilmington, N.C. a local magazine wrote an article about her and her collection.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Dr. Harry Philip Rohr. Other surviving family members include: Diana Richardson (Dean) of New Windsor, MD, Steve Church (Sandra) of Midlothian, VA, daughter-in-law, Ellen Hottinger of Silver Spring, MD and her beloved Havanese dog, Courtney. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her loving son, William “Billy” Ellis Hottinger. She had so many wonderful friends and was the shining light when she stepped into a room. Carol was a strong woman and accomplished so much in her lifetime. That shining light has now dimmed and her family is so blessed to have had her in their lives. May she rest in peace and watch over us all, as we try to continue our journey’s without our beloved Carol in our presence.
In accordance with Carol’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA. Online condolences may be offered on her Book of Memories page at www.geiselfuneralhome.com.
Carol was a strong advocate for Parkinson's Disease so in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her honor to a organization of one's choice.
