Carolyn W. Mummert

Carolyn W. Mummert, age 87 of Winchester, Virginia passed away peacefully on November 5, 2026. She was born on February 7, 1939 in Waynesboro ,Pennsylvania and was the only child of the late Ellis and Mary (Lewis) Weigle.

 Carolyn graduated from Waynesboro Area High School where she was the head majorette for their marching band and participated in the Apple Blossom Festival. This festival was a highlight for her once moving to Winchester and she always attended both parades regardless of the weather. She worked at the school after graduation as the secretary for the Principal and married her high school sweetheart, Gary Muth of Rouzerville, Pa in June of 1958. After his untimely death, several years later she met and married Harold Mummert of Franklin County, Pa in April of 1966. This year would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. As a devoted homemaker, Carolyn poured her heart into caring for her family. Her house was more than just a place to live, it was where her family wanted to gather as often as possible. She created a home of comfort, love, and laughter for everyone who walked through her doors. She was a wonderful cook, always making delicious meals and yummy desserts. Whether it was tending to her flowers or sewing and mending clothes, her hands were always busy making life brighter for those she loved. Carolyn was the heart of her family. She was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and contributed many meals for church functions.

 She is survived by her three daughters, Kathy Spahr (husband Denny), Stacey Nethers (husband Jeff), and Debbie McIntyre (husband Iain); five grandchildren, Tyler Duke (wife Meagan), Chelsea Fox, Chase Nethers (wife Mary), Victoria Walton (husband Joe), and Mitchell Smith; and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by Gary Muth and Harold Mummert. 

A private graveside service will be held in Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions in memory of Carolyn Mummert may be made in lieu of flowers to The Memory Care Unit at The Village at Orchard Ridge, 400 Clocktower Ridge Drive, Winchester, VA 22603.
