Carolyn K. "Katie" Walters

Carolyn K. “Katie” Walters, age 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Wellspan York Hospital. Born June 24, 1945, in Martinsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late James William and Ethel Louise Light.

Mrs. Walters was a 1963 graduate of CASHS. She worked as a telephone operator for the former United Telephone and then Sprint for a number of years, before her retirement. Katie was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon. In retirement, Katie was very active in her church; she participated in delivering meals, helping to prepare meals for various functions, and many other volunteer church activities. She enjoyed shopping, being a caregiver, going to lunch with friends, and cherishing time with family.

Surviving is her son, Greg L. Walters (wife Kari) of Chambersburg, PA; two grandchildren, Taylor Ocker (husband Layne) and Amsley Jenks; four great-grandchildren, Bennett Ocker, Lewis D. Goshen IV, Etta Ray Ocker, and Kaci Ocker; and a sister, Barbara Hockenberry of DE. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Galen Walters in 2001, a daughter, Beth Ann Walters in 2011, and a sister, Annabelle Earley.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Dr. A. Robert cook will officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In accordance with Katie’s wishes, there will be no viewing. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer's Association .
