Carroll G. Wright

September 19, 1939 — December 27, 2025

Fayetteville

Carroll G. Wright, 86, of Fayetteville, PA, a resident of SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Luther Ridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Born September 19, 1939, in Hagerstown, MD, he was a son of the late Clyde G. and Pearl Enterline Wright.

Carroll was a 1957 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in Mechanical Engineering in 1961. Carroll was employed as a mechanical engineer at TB Woods in Chambersburg, from 1961-1980, and later at Jamison Door Co. in Hagerstown as the chief engineer until his retirement in 2000. With his combination of knowledge, engineering and a gift for public speaking, Carroll frequently taught product clinics for his work places throughout the country. Due to his love of the railroad, his business travels were mostly done by train, logging over 75 nights on the rails.

Carroll accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at age seven and his relationship with Christ was the foundation for his life. He taught Sunday school and preached at various churches starting in his late teens. Carroll was a member of The Open Door Church and was an instrumental part of the board that organized and started the Cumberland Valley Christian School. In his retirement, he taught a Bible study mostly about church history at Menno Haven Penn Hall.

His hobbies included model railroading with a focus on the Pennsylvania Railroad, building model airplanes from scratch of American World War II aircrafts, and tracking the weather daily. Carroll was an avid reader and loved deep conversations on topics such as faith, history and politics. He was a talented storyteller and writer of family and life events, including stories for his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Amanda “Jane” Humbert, whom he married on January 29, 1961; four children, Diana L. Kongkeattikul (husband Swann) of Chambersburg, PA, Daniel G. right (Wendy) of York, PA, Stephen C. Wright (Tracey) of Fayetteville, PA, and Rebecca J. Wright of Fayetteville, PA; six grandchildren, Tess Stoko (husband Brent) of San Jose, CA, Grace Kongkeattikul of West Chester, PA, Rachel Wright of Savannah, GA, Ethan Wright if York, PA, and Jessica Hoffeditz (husband Mike) and Noah Wright, both of Chambersburg; and three great grandsons, Gage, Abel and Lucas Hoffeditz. Aside from his parents, Carroll was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and William Wright.
