Catherine L. Metz

Catherine “Kate” L. Metz, 86, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 in her son’s home surrounded by her family. Born April 24, 1938 in Orrstown, PA she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred Ruth (Kline) Helmuth.

She was employed as a seamstress at Tracy’s Fashion for a number of years. Kate also worked at Knouse Foods, Chambersburg and was an immaculate housekeeper for local families. She was a member of AARP and the VFW. She enjoyed playing cards and games with her family and friends, going on bus trips, adult coloring books, and making and gifting Christmas candies. 

Kate is survived by son, David D. Metz, Jr. and his wife, Tracey Conner Metz; a daughter Carla M. Metz Avey and her husband Steve; her late son’s significant other, Diane Shaffer; grandchildren, Michael Metz, Alysha Hardman and her companion Skylar Rock, Jessica Nye, and Samantha King; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lillian Ingram, Pauline Winters, Margaret Binner; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David D. Metz, Sr. who passed November 17, 2021; son, Anthony W. Metz; four brothers, and three sisters.

Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 15, 2024 in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Dave Besecker officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service Monday morning in the funeral home.
