Cathy Rae Barrick

Cathy Rae Barrick, 70, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born July 3, 1955, in Waynesboro, PA, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Helen Monn Smith.

Cathy was employed as a home health aide with Comfort Keepers until her retirement. She had previously been employed at the Chambersburg Fitness Center, Franklin County Agency on Aging, and the former Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A truly selfless and generous person, Cathy made sure everyone else was taken care of before herself. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the wildlife, taking care of her fish pond, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Melvin Lee Barrick, Sr., whom she married in 1973; two sons, Melvin L. Barrick, Jr. of Hagerstown, and Kevin Barrick (Heather) of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, Kelsie Barrick (Diana) of Chambersburg, Cameron Barrick of Chambersburg, Levi Barrick of Hagerstown, Sarah Barrick of Hagerstown, and Adam Barrick of Waynesboro; four great grandchildren; and four siblings, Theresa Conrad, Patricia Littrell, Deborah Wolfe, and Greg Smith. Aside from her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by four siblings, Gary, Vaughn, Lynn and Randy Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 12, 2025, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Fred Keener will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
