Charles Martin

Charles Edward Martin, 90, passed away May 23, 2023, at Paramount Senior Living where he resided for 15 months. He was born on July 17, 1932, in Carlisle, PA; the son of the late John and Laura (Kitner) Martin.

He married the late Marjorie Jean (Smeigh) Martin in 1950 and she preceded him in death in 1988. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carleen Ann Fitzsimmons, in 2019 and by one sister and three brothers.

He is survived by a daughter, Wanda (Lee) Bittinger of Mont Alto and two sons, Rickey (Deborah) Martin of Fayetteville and Dean (Shearl) Martin of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles served his country in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953. Earlier in life he was employed at Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, then at Letterkenny Army Depot from where he retired.

During his lifetime, he enjoyed working on cars and equipment, horseback riding, motorcycle riding, owning pet dogs, and eating out.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Parklawns Memorial Garden located at 3218 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Pastor James Martin will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg, PA.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
