Charles Rock

Charles Edward “Sonny” Rock age 80, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 17, 1942, in Fayetteville, PA, he was the son of the late John D. and Lottie M. Staley Rock. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jacquelynn Rock, with whom he was married for over 36 years; a daughter, Jennifer Rock Johnston (husband Jeff) of Marion, AR; two step-sons, Nathan Wingert (wife Michelle) of Lancaster, PA and Adam Wingert (wife Molly) of Chambersburg, PA; six grandchildren, Laura Johnston, Aidan, Brady, Jack, Nolan, and Eve Wingert; and a sister, Linda M. Miller of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Lee Smith.
Sonny was a 1960 graduate of CASHS. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964-1970. Sonny began his career as a machinist with Fairfield Industries in Hagerstown, MD and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 2007. In retirement, Sonny worked part-time at the former Rocky Spring Golf Course at Letterkenny.
Sonny was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg. He enjoyed being a member of the Veteran’s group at the church. Sonny enjoyed tennis, hunting, and especially a round of golf with good friends. Sonny was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Steven Livermore, Rev. Dr. Diane B. Salter, and Rev. Ray Kauffman will officiate. The family will receive friends at the above church and address one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be in Norland Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O.
