Craig Ridgway Kerr

Craig Ridgway Kerr, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Craig is survived by his wife: Betty; her three children (and their spouses): Joyce (Craig); Nicole (Mark), and Peter (Michele); his first wife Phyllis; their two children (and their spouses): Kathy (Michael) and Cliff (Aimee); and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Martha “Marty”, father Roy and his brother Richard “Dick”.

Craig grew up in Warren, PA and graduated from Warren High School in 1955. He then went to Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA, finishing a postgraduate year in 1956 with rank of Cadet Corporal. Craig completed his formal education at Gettysburg College, graduating in 1960. Craig was part of the Army ROTC program at Gettysburg College which, upon graduation, earned him the rank of Second Lieutenant. He went on to serve active duty in the Army for two years at Fort Dix in New Jersey and finished his Army career as First Lieutenant. He served for the following four years in the Army Reserve. The summer following college graduation was spent as a U.S. Park Ranger at Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. His life went full circle, returning to Pennsylvania later in life to Menno Haven Retirement Community in Chambersburg, PA.

Craig’s employment experience varied, including personnel/human resources, flight instructor, sales, acupuncturist.

Craig lived his life with adventure and passion. He was a teacher at heart whether it was skiing, flying or acupuncture; he was always teaching and helping others. Even after he retired, he volunteered in his retirement community assisting with hospice care to the residents. His heart continued to carry empathy and compassion for others in need.

Craig, like his parents, donated his body to science. A memorial service will be hosted by Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in the coming months.
