Darlene Elois Carey Brucksch, 68, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with the Lord on April 11, 2026.
She was born on January 18, 1958, in Hagerstown, Maryland, to Betty Carey King and Horace Clifton Magruder Carey Sr.
Darlene was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, niece, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who cherished her family and friends deeply. She is survived by her husband, John Brucksch; her mother, Betty Carey King; her brother, Duane Carey and his wife, Pam; her two children, Curtis Carey and his wife, Amy, and Charles (Ceejay) Bell II; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Horace Carey Sr., and her brother, Horace Carey Jr.
Darlene was known for her warm and welcoming spirit. She had a special way of making everyone feel like family from the moment they met her. She was loving, friendly, and deeply caring, always putting others before herself and offering encouragement, kindness, and a listening ear to anyone in need. Her life was a reflection of her strong faith; she loved God wholeheartedly and lived out that love daily through serving others.
She found great joy in singing and serving the Lord, and her faith remained unshaken even through the health challenges she faced. No matter what she was going through, she continued to trust in God and remained a source of strength and inspiration to those around her. She was a devoted member of Brownsville Church of God, who loved her church family as deeply as her own and made a lasting impact everywhere she went and on everyone she encountered.
Darlene will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her unwavering faith, and her beautiful sense of humor. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Brownsville Church of God, 6390 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, PA 17222, beginning at 12:00 PM, with the going home celebration to follow at 1:00 PM.
