DaRue A. Westcott

DaRue A. Westcott, 86, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Monday, March 23, 2026 in Casey House Hospice Facility, Rockville, MD. Born August 5, 1939 in Chambersburg she was the daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Weedon) Chase.

She was a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. DaRue managed the clerical department of the Chambersburg Police Department. Additionally, she served as the personal secretary to the Mayor of Chambersburg and the Chief of Police throughout her career. DaRue was a faithful and active member of St. James AME Church, Chambersburg where she was the pianist for over 60 years and a member of the church choir. Later in life she enjoyed watching sports especially golf, tennis, and the Olympics with her granddaughter.

DaRue is survived by two children, William Leo Prieto (Janet L. Gossert-Prieto) of Chambersburg and DaRue Annette Prieto of Frederick, MD; a granddaughter, Asia Maurie Prieto; and a sister, Daphae Ngoi of Illinois. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Gordon Westcott; a granddaughter, DaRue Natosha Doakes; and a brother, James Chase.

Services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, March 30, 2026 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Marilyn Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA . 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. James AME Church, 510 S. Main Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
