Della E. Claar

Della Esther (Fleagle) Claar, 79, a life-time Chambersburg resident, passed away peacefully on March 30th, 2026. She was born on November 18, 1946, daughter of the late Clarence F. Fleagle and Esther M. (Eberly) Fleagle.

Della married the love of her life, Joseph I. Claar, on March 26, 1972, and shared 54 wonderful years of marriage together. They adopted their beloved daughter, Kathleen, from South Korea in August 1987. Della is survived by her loving husband, daughter Kathleen and husband Michael Kleinberg of New Enterprise, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Charles A. Eberly.

Della taught cultural studies and world history for 36 years with the Chambersburg Area School District. She was a member of King Street United Brethren where she played hand bells for many years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking, biking, skiing, international and domestic travel, camping at Raystown Lake, and Sunday drives. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM at King Street Church, 162 E. King Street, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Ron Cook officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM at the church.
