Donald R. Leininger, Sr.

Donald R. Leininger, Sr., 91, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 25, 1934, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Reuben D. and Nellie Mae Shore Leininger. His beloved wife, Peggy L. McKnight Leininger, whom he married on August 28, 1955, preceded him in death on July 28, 2014.

Donald was a 1954 graduate of St. Thomas High School. A US Army National Guard veteran, Donald served honorably for 17 years. He began his career at Landis Machine Company as a machinist and retired after 39 ½ years of service as superintendent at Teledyne Corporation. Donald was a member of Greencastle Otterbein United Brethren Church. He enjoyed keeping active, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two sons, Donald R. Leininger, Jr. (Linda) of Chambersburg, and Craig L. Leininger (Tamie) of Shippensburg; six grandchildren, Misty Privitt (Bill), Josh Leininger (Kelly Strait), Aaron Leininger (Leigha), Isaiah Leininger, Jason Forsythe (Ashley), and Chad Forsythe (Jessica); eight great grandchildren, Noah, Haley, Alexander, Hannah, Jaelynn, Talon, Gabriel, and Uriah; and three sisters, Thelma Rockwell of Mercersburg, Delores Carbaugh of St. Thomas, and Diane Foreman of Chambersburg. Aside from his wife and parents, Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, William Leininger and Reuben Leininger, Jr.
