Dorothy V. (West) Miley, 87, of Chambersburg, PA passed away the morning of Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in Providence Place Senior Living. Born May 5, 1936 in Chambersburg she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Elsie G. (Mellott) West.
She attended Chambersburg High School. Dorothy then went back to school and obtained her LPN Degree from Franklin County Vo Tech. She worked as a nurse at the Chambersburg Hospital and local doctor’s offices. Dorothy enjoyed volunteering at the Toy Mission, the Capitol Theatre, and Dress to a Tea thrift store all in Chambersburg. She loved playing Scrabble, reading and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Carbaugh and her husband Ken of Chambersburg and Lori Kraieski and her husband Kevin of North Carolina; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Amy Bishop of Chambersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Miley who passed away in 2004; daughter, Paula Miley; nine brothers and two sisters.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capitol Theatre, 159 S. Main Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Franklin County Library System, 101 Ragged Edge Road S., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
