Earl Theodore Fogal, 91, of Chambersburg, passed away early Saturday morning, October 10, 2026, at his home with family by his side. Born November 23, 1934, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Earl B. and Mary A. Peters Fogal.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Cindylee A. Barges Fogal; his (lap)dog Toby; and his four children: Cynthia J. Kendle (Archie) of Gustavus, Alaska; Douglas E. Fogal (partner Pamella Fofana) of Chambersburg; Ann M. Gottlieb (William) of Mechanicsburg; and Troy T. Fogal (fiancé Becca Campbell) of Chambersburg. Earl was very proud of his ten grandchildren: Aaron Bush, Dakota Kendle, Logan Kendle, Keaton Fogal, Quinn Fogal, Kylie O’Neal, Keona Fogal, Julia Gottlieb, Kip Gottlieb, and Carter Fogal, and five great-grandchildren: Adelyn, Makena, Lucy, Dean, and Sadie. Earl is also survived by his four brothers, Benedict Fogal, Joseph Fogal, John Fogal, and Robert Fogal. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by two sons, James D. Fogal and Vincent E. Fogal, and one sister, Regina Thomas.
Earl was a 1952 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and a lifelong member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Chambersburg. He worked various jobs throughout his life until he finally decided to retire at 72 as a store manager with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. He was an avid fan of the Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State, and any team his children/grandchildren played on.
A supportive, strong and constant presence in his family’s life, more than anything he enjoyed spending time with loved ones (especially if it involved going out for breakfast). Earl was a living example of resilience, determination and love. He always faced challenges with a positive attitude and humor and defied the odds many times.
His family would be honored with your presence when they celebrate his life at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The Rev. Dr. D. Neil Suders will officiate. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Feel free to wear your favorite Eagles or Phillies gear. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
Earl’s family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Julie and Laurel from Grane (now Adoration) Hospice who compassionately tended to Earl during his 8.5 months of home care.
