Jun 6, 1943 — Aug 14, 2026

New Franklin, PA

Gary E. Hollinshead, 83, of New Franklin, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday morning, August 14, 2026. Born June 6, 1943, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Verna M. Wiles Hollinshead.

Gary was a 1961 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He then attended York Academy of the Arts for two years. Gary was employed as a graphic artist with American Can Company and later James River Corporation for 29 years until his retirement. He later opened a shop for finishing furniture and caning chairs. An avid bowler for the past 66 years, Gary also enjoyed reading John Grisham, watching Penn State Football, and listening to Southern gospel music, oil painting and trains.

Gary was a man of great faith and works. He taught fourth grade Sunday school, helped with Bible release time for 15 years, and as Christian Endeavor President, say on the same platform with evangelist Billy Graham. Gary was currently a member of King Street United Brethren Church. He was previously a member at Christian Missionary Alliance Church for 35 years and literally helped to build that church building.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Rose Snyder Hollinshead; daughter, Pamela S. Smith; two sisters, Sandra Cooper (Wes), and Alita Anne Grout (Doug); step-son, Matthew Furman, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith A. Moats Hollinshead; and son-in-law, Kevin Smith.
