Geneva Bishop

Geneva Clark Bishop, 82, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born December 20, 1940 in Lawton, OK she was the daughter of the late Clifford Clark and Juanita Terasez Clark.

She was employed as a clerk-typist, and then advanced to the role of Executive Assistant of the commanding general at Fort Bliss, in El Paso, TX. After TX, Geneva moved to Burke, VA and continued her career at The Pentagon in Arlington, VA where she was the Executive Assistant to the Legislative Liaison, Congressional Liaison Offices, Washington, DC. After her retirement from the Pentagon, she moved to Cache, OK where she operated a small business for many years. She enjoyed attending auctions to buy antique furniture to refurbish, sewing, crafting homemade jewelry, shopping, and taking care of her cats and dogs, which always had throughout her adult life. Many years later, she moved to Chambersburg, PA to live with her son and his family.

She is survived by three children, Rae Ann Burns and her husband Jeff of Cudjoe Key, FL, Bill Atwara and his long-time partner Becky McCarty of Temple, OK, and Joseph Atwara and his wife Amanda of Chambersburg; four-step children, Garrett Bishop, Meredith Bishop Adams, Brian Bishop and David Bishop; four grandchildren, Honey Atwara, Rae Lynn Atwara, Maj. Jenifer McClary, and Cole Atwara; six step-grandsons, Daniel, Conner, Lodan, Seth, Brendyn, and Keegan; two sisters, Wanda Ann Earl and Elsie Gail Sanford; four brothers, Benjamin Clark, Clifford Clark, Mark Clark, and Edward Clark; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Honey Dosey and Mary Clark and two brothers, Lewis and Jon Clark.

Services will be held at a later date in Oklahoma. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mad to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at ASPCA.org.
