Harold S. Forrester, age 96, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Orrstown Personal Care Home. Born April 13, 1930, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Albert H. and Ruth Sellers Forrester.
Mr. Forrester was a 1948 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. He was a lifelong farmer. Mr. Forrester was a member of First Lutheran Church, FFA, Franklin County Farm Bureau, Franklin County Conservation District, Grower Member of Knouse Food Corporation, Grease Steam & Rust Association, and several other Antique Tractor Clubs. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying, restoring antique tractors and participating in the State and National Plowing Contests. He was the National and State Champion Plowman several times throughout his life.
Surviving are three daughters, Bonnie McKenrick (husband Rodney) of Ft. Collins, CO, Donna Forrester of Chambersburg, PA, and Carol Jean McCoy (husband William) of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Brian J. McKenrick, Crystal L. McKenrick, Michael D. McCoy (wife Amber), and Matthew R. McCoy (wife Krystle); seven great grandchildren, Addisyn, Masen, Larsen, Dawson, Emma, Owen, and Sutton; three siblings, Eleanor Ostrasky (husband Lester), Carl S. Forrester (wife JoAnn), and Gerald K. Forrester (wife Wanda) all of Chambersburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Forrester in 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 10 AM in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chambersburg, 43 W. Washington St. Chambersburg, with Rev. Jane Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends from 6-8 PM on September 24 in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church at the above or to The Cumberland Valley Humane Society, 5051 Letterkenny Rd W., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
