Harriett C. Gray

Harriett C. Gray, 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. She was born on March 18, 1935, in Midland, MI to the late Charles Sr. and Georgia L. (Babcock) Crapser.

Harriett graduated in 1957 from Michigan State University with her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She then went on to work as a teacher and later in life worked as a tape librarian for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA. Harriett was a member of the Scotland Fellowship Church, Martha Curtis Chapter #342 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Falling Spring Court #139 Order of the Amaranth, Inc.

She is survived by her sons William Gray of Chambersburg, PA and Robert Gray of York, PA; granddaughter Allyson Appleby of Dillsburg, PA; great granddaughter Lillian Leeper; sister Bonnie Crocker of Culpeper, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Darwyn D. Gray who passed away in 2002, daughter Debra Gray, and brother Charles Crapser, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202, with Pastor Bill Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Salem United Brethren Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
