James G. “Jim” Holden, 73, of Fayetteville, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Mercy House of Chambersburg. Born April 9, 1952, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Donald and Doris Peiffer Holden.
Jim was a 1970 graduate of CASHS. A US Navy veteran, he served honorably during the Vietnam War and continued his service with the West Virginia Air National Guard during Operation Desert Storm. Jim was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot until his retirement in 1998 as a welder, sandblaster and painter. James was a member of Greenwood Assembly of God in Fayetteville, and the American Legion Post 46 in Chambersburg. An avid sports fan, he followed the Baltimore Orioles, Penn State Football, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Washington Capitals. He also enjoyed camping and playing softball and throwing darts in local leagues.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen Beard Holden, whom he married on January 24, 1976; three children, Daniele Chamberlin (Jason) of Chambersburg, Jessica Korby (Kristoffer) of Lynchburg, VA, and Jason Holden of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren, Sawyer, Gannon, Rowan, Reese, Elijah, Evangeline and Jonathan; and four siblings, Tom Holden (Kim) of Chambersburg, Diane Campbell (Jack) of Lurgan, Cathy Layton of Chambersburg, and David Holden (Lori) of Frederick, MD. Aside from his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Holden.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 13, 2026, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. James McMickin will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
