Janet I. Hocker

Janet I. (Bouder) Hocker, 99, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 in The Village at Luther Ridge. Born August 18, 1926 in Waynesboro, PA she was the daughter of the late Harvey E. and Kathryn (Gardenhour) Bouder.

She and her late husband, George L. Hocker, were married October 28, 1952. Mr. Hocker passed away August 18, 2004.

Janet was employed as a sales clerk at JJ Newberry’s starting in Waynesboro and then eventually in Chambersburg. She retired after 50 years with the company. Janet was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. She enjoyed shopping, visiting relatives, spending time at the beach, and taking care of her home.

She is survived by her son, Gary L. Hocker and his wife Jeanine of Chambersburg; a grandson, Brandon L. Hocker of Chambersburg; a brother, Richard Bouder of Harrisburg, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a brother Charles Bouder.

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 6, 2025 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Ruth Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday morning in the funeral home.
