Chambersburg

Jayne S. (Shockey) Lorah, 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 7, 2026. Born on July 17, 1944, in Chambersburg, Jayne was the daughter of the late Jacob Merle and Ethel Mae (Hartman) Shockey. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1962 graduate of Chambersburg High School and remained deeply connected to her community throughout her life.

Jayne lived a full and meaningful life, marked by hard work, service, and genuine care for others. Throughout her career, she held many roles and embraced each with dedication. She worked as a reporter for the Public Opinion newspaper, served as Vice President of a local bank, and was a devoted secretary for her husband’s church. She especially enjoyed her time working at the Butcher Shoppe, where she loved interacting with people.

In her quieter moments, Jayne found joy in gardening and planting flowers, curling up with a good book, crafting, and spending time visiting with friends. She was proud to serve in a statewide role with the Pennsylvania Order of the Eastern Star and was honored to be a board member of the Totem Pole Playhouse. Above all, Jayne cherished relationships and made those around her feel welcomed and valued.

She is survived by her beloved husband Reverend Martin H. Lorah of Chambersburg; her loving daughter, Bethany (Michael) Hoosier of Clear Spring, MD; her stepson, Christopher (Robin) Lorah of Gettysburg, PA; her grandchildren, Loudan Hoosier (Sydney), Abigail Breakall (Jared), Paxton Lorah, and Kylee Lorah; and her great‑grandchildren, Olivia, Eleanor, and Finn Breakall, whom she adored deeply. Her love for her grandchildren was one of the greatest joys of her life.

In keeping with Jayne’s wishes, services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.geiselfuneralhome.com.
