Jean F. Hafer

Jean F. Hafer, 97, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born July 17, 1928 in Chambersburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Louise E. (Shatzer) Fennell, as well as widow of the late Alfred R. Hafer, who preceded her in death on August, 18, 1993.

Jean was a 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She took good care of her family as a homemaker. She was an amazing cook and made the best rum cakes. She spent many years with her family at the beach in Delaware where they fished, clammed, and crabbed. She also spent time volunteering at the Chambersburg YMCA for over 10 years. Jean was a diehard Washington Redskins fan and never missed a game she could get on TV (HTTR).

Jean is survived by her children, Michael A. Hafer and his wife, Joy, of Chambersburg, PA; Jeffry A. Hafer and his wife, Barbara, of Lewes, DE; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Mark E. Hafer, granddaughter, Erin E. Hafer, and three sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 1, 2025 in the Parish Center of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 279 N. Second Street, Chambersburg, PA with Father Benjamin Kwaghba as Celebrant. The family will receive friends in the Parish Center one hour prior to the service. Committal services will be private.
