John I. Anspach, 89, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 5, 1934 in Chambersburg he was the son of the late John H. and Ellen E. (Morton) Anspach.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1952. John served proudly with the United State Army from October 15, 1956 until his honorable discharge October 14, 1958. He was employed as a tool and die maker for SKF Bearing Industries, Shippensburg, PA. He retired in 1979 after 27 and a half years with the company. Following he went to work for Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg as a machinist and retired from there in 1996.
He was a member of Salem United Brethren Church and Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church. In his younger years John enjoyed going camping. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, traveling the mountains of the United States and Canada especially visiting the Rocky Mountains, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Pamalee G. (Nye) Anspach; two children, Michael Anspach and his wife Laurel of Needmore, PA and Kim Richart and her husband Lance of Northeast, MD; three grandchildren, Carey, Luke, and Olivia; and two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Adam.
Services will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, February 2, 2024 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Ron Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA, where military honors will be conducted by members of the Charles Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post #1599 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday afternoon in the funeral home.
