Kenneth George

Kenneth E. George, age 91, of Chambersburg, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 in his home. Born on August 31, 1920 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Curtis and Stella Binkley George. For over 64 years, he was married to the late Lillian Mae Fahrney George, until she preceded him in death on June 23, 2007.

A self-employed farmer, Ken loved riding his tractors, including his lawn tractor up until very recently. He also operated his own trucking business years ago, making local deliveries of milk, coal, fertilizer and other goods. He cherished times spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and many will miss his witty sense of humor and acts of genuine kindness.

He is survived by three children, Janice (and husband, Jay) Green of Chambersburg, Lenny (and wife, Sally) George of Fairfax, VA, and Richard (and wife, Cindy) George of Chambersburg; one brother, Russell (and wife, Lois) George of Shady Grove, PA, one sister, Janet Newcomer of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Chris, Todd, Ben, Holly, Shannon, and Daniel; eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Austin, Jacob, Natalie, Brady, Parker, Keira, and Alexis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Aside from his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Roy, and his sister, Tressa High.

Kenneth was a member of Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4856 Wayne Road, Chambersburg, where we will celebrate his life with funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 31, 2012. The Rev. William Nienstedt will officiate. Interment will follow in Grindstone Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, and on Saturday from 10-11 AM at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Solomon’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund at the above stated address.
