Lester G. Jiles, Sr., 75, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at his home. He was born on June 1, 1951, in York, PA to the late John Leroy, Sr. and Esther (Aikens) Jiles.
After high school, Lester enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Later in life, he was employed by Letterkenny Army Depot as a Welder and eventually became a Union Representative. He enjoyed being a Union Representative and helping his fellow employees in any way he could. He formerly attended Bethel AME Church in York, PA, but more recently attended Unity in Christ Church in Chambersburg, PA. Throughout his life, Lester was a boxer, a trainer at Gold’s Gym, a handyman, a gourmet cook, and enjoyed yardwork, riding his bicycle, and volunteering his time at both the Salvation Army and VisionQuest.
He is survived by his wife, Savilla “Tina” Jiles of Chambersburg, PA, whom he married on June 10, 1972; son Lester G. Jiles, Jr. (Katie) of Phoenixville, PA and his children Tucker, Leslie, and Jenna; son Isaiah Jiles (Marie) of Shippensburg, PA; daughter Jackie Jiles (Eddie) of Chambersburg, PA and her children Yasmeen Faith Jiles, Jaqueis Staple, Malik Woodley, Jahzaiah Jiles, and Patrice Jiles; grandchildren Kevorris Benjamin, Michael Jordan, Jackael Aaron, Malika and Amya; brother John L. Giles, Jr. (Catherine) of York, PA; brother Steven Jiles (Sharon) of York, PA; brother David Jiles of Harrisburg, PA; sister Colleen Jiles of York, PA; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Esther “Dutchie” Jiles and Linda Jiles.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Unity in Christ Church, 4301 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Lois Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery in Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at the church.
