Linda L. Schoenleber, age 82, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on January 7, 2026, in her home in Chambersburg, after a lengthy, courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Born on August 7, 1943, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Tom M. West and Pauline Eyer West. A graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Linda worked for many years in the office of Agway Energy Products in Chambersburg. After retiring from Agway, she worked for 15 years in the dental office of Dr. Michael Cerveris in Chambersburg. She was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Chambersburg.
Linda was a fantastic cheerleader in high school and was quite a good softball player who could hit the softball a “Country Mile”. Although she did not play in high school, she played in many women’s leagues and players were known to jump out of the path of her hits because of how hard she hit the ball. Linda loved working in the yard and loved mowing the grass with perfect straight lines. She wanted the lines “straight and perfect,” not allowing anyone else to perform the task. She insisted on mowing “her” full green grass in her bare feet and did it for years against her family’s wishes. When in a larger gathering of people, Linda often preferred to remain a bit quiet, but her strength and wisdom were always well known. She would often speak in those gatherings, out of nowhere, offering the “Lords view” on the subject at hand. She was just like her mother, in that aspect.
Linda, along with Rich, owned and operated Richlin Spring House and Antiques on Falling Spring Road in the early 90’s. The concept was born from Linda and Rich purchasing an old, small farm property on Falling Spring Road. (Ironically, beside Geisel Funeral Home) Linda, along with Rich, would purchase antique furniture and treasures in deplorable condition, in-and-around, Chambersburg. They often traveled quite far on weekend excursions to find these treasures, always together. They would do all of the restoration to these pieces, with both sets of hands, and bring these pieces back to life to supply Richlin Spring House. They both had a keen eye for antiques. They did all of this after restoring the entire farm property consisting of a beautiful stone home, a small, dilapidated barn, and another building on the property which became Richlin Spring House.
Surviving is her husband of over 63 years, Richard L. “Rich” Schoenleber, whom she married on February 17, 1963; daughter, Laurie L. Truman of Chambersburg; Richard P. “Richie” Schoenleber of Orrtanna, PA; Sister Lorna Johnson of Ocala, FL; Brother Tom West of Satellite Beach, FL; grandsons Brandon Truman (wife Lorraine) of Dillsburg, PA; Joshua Truman (wife Kathryn) of Clarksville, TN; Austin Schoenleber (girlfriend Erin) of Wilmington, NC; granddaughter Payton Schoenleber (boyfriend Jacob) of Charlotte, NC; great grandchildren Sawyer, Brady, Whalen, Levi, and Finny Truman; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home at 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with an hour of visitation prior, beginning at 9:00 am. Pastor Ruth Smith of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Linda’s family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff at the Chambersburg Hospital, Quincy Village Rehab Center, the In-Home Health Care, and finally, the Grane Hospice team for their compassionate care. Also, an extra special feeling of heartfelt love and gratitude to Linda’s in-home personal caregivers.
Having the privilege of writing my mother’s obituary, I realize in the celebration of my mother’s life, although painful in her passing, has bestowed a feeling of peace, knowing, in the end and through it all, my mother, in her fight, was stronger than us all.
