Louise Sellers Wentzel

June 22, 1936 — March 18, 2026

Chambersburg

Louise “Weezie” Sellers Wentzel, 89, of Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 18, 2026 with her daughter by her side. Born June 22, 1936 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl F. and Sylvia A. (McCarney) Sellers.

She was a graduate of Greencastle Area Senior High School with the Class of 1954. Louise was a homemaker and secretary for TB Woods earlier in life. She spent most of her career employed by the Chambersburg Area School District as a secretary at Marion Elementary School. She found great joy in working with and caring for students and their families, often maintaining relationships with students into adulthood.

Louise was a faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg where she was a member of the Hope Sunday School Class and Women’s Connect. She enjoyed reading, going to her granddaughter’s softball games and participating in Bible Studies and Share Groups. She also enjoyed regular get togethers with the teachers and staff from Marion Elementary. She especially loved and cherished her time spent with her twin sister and best friend, Sibby. Louise was a charitable giver and was seen as a shoulder to lean on by friends and by strangers. She was recognized as “Nanny” by her grandchildren, as well as by many of her granddaughter’s friends, whom she loved dearly.

She is survived by two children, Jennifer Henderson and her husband Shane of Greencastle, PA and Chip Wentzel and his wife Amy of Colorado; three grandchildren, Rachael Henderson, Dale Wentzel and Andrew Wentzel; three siblings, Terry Sellers and his wife Bonnie of Chambersburg, PA, Sherry Foreman and her husband Joe of Chambersburg, PA, and Chris Sellers and his wife Beverly of Greencastle, PA; and a number of cherished nieces and nephews. Louise’s family takes great comfort in knowing she was welcomed home by her beloved husband, Charles L. Wentzel, daughter, Laura Leigh Wentzel, and her twin sister, Sylvia “Sibby” Barnhart; her parents and brother, Thomas Sellers, also awaited her arrival into Heaven.

The family would like to express their utmost gratitude and appreciation for the staff at Menno Haven (Bumbaugh House & Lehman House - Brookview Healthcare Center). From beginning to end, the entire staff in both houses ensured Louise got the best care possible and their kindness spoke volumes. The nurses and support staff were truly bright lights in an often uncertain time.

Services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, March 23, 2026 in the First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Rev. Dr. Dianne Salter, Rev. Mark Terwilliger and Chaplain Lori Witmer officiating. Burial will be private in Brown’s Mill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home.
