Margaretta L. “Louise” Kennedy, 98, of Fayetteville, and formerly of Stanley Avenue, Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Paramount Senior Living. Born May 15, 1928 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Laura Robinson Carmack. Her beloved husband of 70 years, Wilbur W. Kennedy, whom she married on November 8, 1946, preceded her in death on June 4, 2016.

Louise was 1946 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was employed as a Installment Loan Secretary with the former Chambersburg Trust Co. Bank until her retirement. She had also been employed by the Cedar Grove and Norland Cemeteries in Chambersburg. Louise volunteered her time with the Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary for 15 years as treasurer and as Girl Scout Den Mother. Louise was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, the Business Women’s Association (Heart of the Valley Chapter), AARP Chapter 2287, and a charter member of the VFW Post 1599 women’s Auxiliary.

Louise enjoyed all kinds of needle work, camping, and traveling. She and her husband traveled to many foreign countries such as Canada and Panama where they saw the Panama Canal, and also throughout the United States.

She is survived by her son Terry Lee Kennedy, Sr. and wife Diane of Blairs Mills, PA; four grandchildren, Dorothy Harnish (Lloyd) and Lesley Johnson (Dave), Terry Lee Kennedy, Jr., and Matthew Kennedy; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Aside from her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Arleen Burns; and her brother George Carmack.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Caroline E. Saxton will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
