Marilyn Hall Pukmel passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026. She was born on August 1, 1935, in Albany, New York, to Donald and Virginia Moore.
Marilyn lived a full life filled with skiing, traveling, music, and journalism. She graduated from Poughkeepsie High School, where she headed the debate team, and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University. After college, she worked for Newsweek in New York City and later for the Poughkeepsie Journal as a reporter, editor, and City Desk Editor.
Marilyn had a strong interest in local and national politics. She was a member of the Poughkeepsie Ski Club and enjoyed playing her flute with the New Horizons Orchestra in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She and her late husband also owned and operated a public relations business in Chambersburg. Marilyn also enjoyed her time volunteering at the Chambersburg Chamber Museum as well as being a member of Toastmasters.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Stone and his wife, Neely, of Red Hook, New York; her sister- in-law, Georgene Moore of New Mexico; her nephew, Ryan Moore and family; her niece, Michelle Griffin and family; and her five stepsons, Stephen, Mike, Mark, Charles, and Christopher Pukmel.
Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Virginia Moore; her brother, Craig Moore of Boise, Idaho; and her husband, William Pukmel.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Sunday, April 19, 2026 in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.
