Martha “Beth” Coon, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Concordia at SpiriTrust, Luther Ridge in Chambersburg. Born September 22, 1938, in Hickory, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Floyd and Ruth (Counts) Barnhill.

Throughout her life, Martha was active in numerous organizations and activities. She was a devoted member of Mt. Pleasant Church in Chambersburg and participated in the Whirlybirds Square Dancing Group, golf and bowling leagues, Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter volunteer programs, pet therapy, bird watching and sanctuary activities, gardening, puzzling, Sunday School, mission trips, and hosting family reunions. Above all else, Martha cherished her family. She devoted her life to raising her children and found her greatest joy in caring for and spending time with those she loved, especially her precious grandchildren Emily, Owen, Adam, Austin, Dave, Beth, Becca, Sarah, Leah, Brooke and Takoda and also her endearing ten great grandchildren

She is also survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Charles W. Coon, whom she married on February 9, 1957; her beloved children, Dale Coon (Michelle) of Boston, MA, Julia Harvey of Chambersburg, PA, and Lorraine Kennedy (Ron) of Carlotta, CA; In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Scott Coon, and her brother, Jerry Barnhill.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on a date that will be announced in the near future at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
