Mary Catherine Kohler

Mary Catherine Kohler, 81, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at WellSpan York Hospital. Born September 12, 1944, in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Wayne and Olive George Russell. Her beloved husband, Norman W. Kohler, Jr., preceded her in death on November 23, 2013.

Mary was a graduate of Shippensburg High School. She dedicated most of her life to making a home for her family and later, worked at Gateway Gallery Auction in Chambersburg. Mary enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, Larry Kohler of Fayetteville, and Vanessa Cordell (William) of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Brandi Kohler (Jake Zullinger) of Chambersburg, and Colton Cordell of Chambersburg; two great grandchildren, Grayson and Ariana Zullinger; and three siblings, Gary Russell of Chambersburg, Darlene Furry (Bruce) of Fayetteville, and Rena Russell of McKeesport. Aside from her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by three siblings, Robert Russell, Debra Mackling and an infant brother.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dr. A Robert Cook will officiate. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
