Mary Ann Lowans

Mary Ann Lowans, 94, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at her home with her daughter Jennifer by her side.

Born June 3, 1931 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Harris and Caroline Hamil Johnston. Mary Ann was a graduate of McConnellsburg High School and of the Katharine Gibbs School in New York City while a resident of the famous Barbizon Hotel. As a Navy wife, she raised her young family by moving from place to place, including Toms River, New Jersey, San Diego, Norfolk, Virginia, and Guam. Navy retirement brought Mary Ann and her husband, Ray, and their children, back to their home state of Pennsylvania where they settled in Fayetteville. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzler and life-long animal lover.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Lowans, her daughters Carol Rae Lowans and Melissa Ann Horn, and one granddaughter Mary Ann Beck. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer J. Lowans, her son-in-law David Horn, her grandson Jeremy Horn, and her granddaughter Emily Ann Martin, her grandson-in-law Kenneth Martin, and her great grandchildren Madison, Mason and Missy Ann.

Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
