Melvin Leroy Harrison, 93, of Newburg, passed away on Sunday morning, February 1, 2026, at his home. Born May 21, 1932 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Guy M. an d Daisy B. Kline Harrison.
A US Army veteran, Melvin served honorably in the Korean War. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Korean Service Medal with five battle stars among other commendations. He was a self-employed brick mason for most of his life and later worked at Letterkenny Army Depot as a forklift operator until his retirement. A very creative person, Melvin enjoyed woodworking, playing guitar, drawing and painting. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Ann Debolt Harrison, whom he married on October 14, 1960; three children, Dawn Conover (husband Wayne) of New Oxford, Lance Harrison (wife Judy) of Carlisle, and Heather Reamer of Newburg; nine grandchildren, Harmony Motter, Holly Hornbaker, Greg Hornbaker, Jr., Ashley McCalmont, Jesse Harrison, Hope Longenecker, Chantelle Harrison, Rose Reamer and Daisy Reamer; numerous great grandchildren; and his sister Bonnie. Aside from his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Sabrina McCalmont; grandson, Caleb Reamer; three brothers, Richard, Robert and Raymond Harrison; and one sister, Nancy Gelsinger.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Mowersville Brethren In Christ Church, 14924 W. Creek Road, Newburg, PA 17240. Rev. Luke Holtry will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Otterbein United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026 at the church, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. A reception will follow the burial at Mowersville Brethren In Christ Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
