Michael Lindsay Knepper, age 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Mercy House, surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 20, 1945, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of John Leibold Knepper and Charlotte Elizabeth “Betty” (Lindsay) Knepper.
Mike was a 1963 graduate of Chambersburg Area High School, where he was fondly remembered for driving a hearse to school. He spent much of his career working as an estimator and contractor for Brechbill and Helman. For a time, he also taught vocational skills in the Waynesboro Area School District, helping high school students at risk of dropping out develop practical skills for their future.
Mike was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who took great pride in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Judy, his children, Stephanie Brown (husband Brian) and Suzanne Knepper and his grandchildren, Jonathon Brown and wife Katelynn (Cavanaugh), Jocelyn Kuhn and fiancé Grayson Oroke, Tyler Kuhn and Matthew Brown and fiancé Sydney Ricker.
Mike was known for his strong work ethic, his willingness to lend a hand, and his ability to fix just about anything. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, Trout Unlimited, the NTWF, and a Scout Master for many years with the Boy Scouts, himself having earned Eagle Scout. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking, gardening, hunting, restoring cars, spending time outdoors, watching the Steeler’s. He especially cherished time spent with his family, whether traveling with Judy in the camper, or shooting canons and other explosives at the family farm.
Those who knew Mike will remember his sense of humor, storytelling, kindness, quiet strength, as well as the lasting impact he had on the lives of those around him.
Services and internment are private. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc, Chambersburg, PA. Online condolences may be offered on his page at www.geiselfuneralhome.com
