Paul L. McCleary

Paul L. McCleary, 90, of Chambersburg, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Brookview Healthcare Center. Born April 21, 1935, in Southampton Township, Franklin County, he was a son of the late Robert D. McCleary and Sara Piper McCleary.

Paul was a 1954 graduate of Shippensburg High School. After high school, Paul served honorably in the US Air Force. He was employed as an Inventory Clerk with Corning Glass Works for 32 years until his retirement. Paul was a member of Solomon’s United Church of Christ. He also belonged to Acacia Lodge #586 F&AM in Waynesboro, Harrisburg Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg, the New Franklin Ruritan and the Royal Parish Bowling League. In his free time, Paul enjoyed woodworking and working in the yard.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, C. Elaine Thompson McCleary, whom he married on June 11, 1960; two sons, Timothy L. McCleary and wife Mary Ellen of South China, ME, and Todd M. McCleary of Chambersburg; two granddaughters, Molly McCleary of Boston, MA and Mandy McCleary of Washington, DC; and one sister, Pauline Frey of Chambersburg. Aside from his parents, Paul was preceded in death by four brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 21, 2025, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Danielle Neff will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Grindstone Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
