Richard S. Hill II

Richard S. “Dick” Hill II, of Marion, passed away on Wednesday morning, May 15, 2024 at the Chambersburg Hospital.  Born August 24, 1939 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Richard S. Hill and Ruth M. Hissong Hill.  

A 1957 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Dick then attended trade school through his employer, Landis Machine, where he learned to be a machinist.  Over the years, he continued to work for Landis and then for Mack Truck in Hagerstown.  He was an accomplished softball player, and was still playing as recently as last year.  He also enjoyed bowling and liked to drag race in his younger days.  He was skilled working with his hands and did part time vehicle mechanic work as well.  

Dick is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gladys R. (Stouffer) Hill, whom he married on April 16, 1961; two sons, Richard S. Hill III, of Lewisberry, PA and Gregory L. Hill and his wife, Takako, of Japan; siblings, Thomas Hill and wife Dorothy, Nina Hill, Linda Wagner, and Jeffrey Hill and wife Laura.  Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 20^th, 2024 at 11:00 am at Antrim Brethren in Christ Church, 24 Kauffman Rd. E, Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Casey Hurst will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
