Roger L. Cook

Roger L. Cook, age 76, of Mont Alto, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Doey’s House. Born February 23, 1950, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Preston L. Cook, Sr. and Dorothy Thompson Cook.

Roger was a 1968 graduate of CASHS. Throughout his career he was employed at Manitowoc (formerly Grove Worldwide), Massey Ford, and Baumgardner Oil Company and Truck Mart, LLC. He attended various churches and was a member of various veteran’s organizations. Roger served in the U.S. Army Special Forces in Vietnam, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, and multiple Soldier of the Month Awards. Roger loved spending time with his family and beloved pets, sharing stories and singing songs, as he loved music. He always enjoyed attending his grandsons’ sporting events. His favorite season was summer. He was a member of the Chambersburg Motor Knights. He was a fan of many types of racing, tractor pulls, carnival, drive-in movies, and spending time with his recycling hobby. Roger was known to lend a hand and will be greatly missed.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Sandra Bumbaugh Cook; daughter, Aimee Cook Bowers (Kenneth); two grandsons, Zackaree and Anthanee Bowers; a brother, Preston Cook, Jr. (Helen) and Sister, Susan Truett (Richard).

Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Rd., Waynesboro, PA 17268 or to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd.
