Roy H. Rowe

Roy H. “Sonny” Rowe, age 78, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Mercy House in Chambersburg, PA. Born in Waynesboro, PA on January 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Richard C. and Loretta Kauffman Rowe.

A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Roy served honorably during the Vietnam Conflict. Roy worked for the former Frick Company for 17 years, as a machine operator and lastly as a welder at Pressure Tech in Greencastle, retiring in 2007. He was a member of Solomon’s United Church of Christ, AmVets Post 224, American Legion Post 46, order of Owls Club in Waynesboro, and Frontier County Gun Club, where he served as President for 19 years. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, riding his motorcycle, and softball in his younger years.

Surviving are three children, Janet Carbaugh (Robert) of Chambersburg, Joyce Harnish of Chambersburg, and Keith Boyce (Jessica) of Chambersburg, son-in-law, Roger “Hodge” Miller of Fayetteville; 9 grandchildren, Dustin Carbaugh (Becky), Courtney Reasner (Ryan Gossard), Bryan Miller (Abbey Bovey), Jennifer Dunlap (Travis), Tyler Reasner (Halle), Katelyn Smith (Anthony), Tyler Boyce, Jordan Boyce, and Mike Miller (Ashley); 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon Plank (Charlie). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan J. Milberger Rowe in 2020, a daughter, Jeane Miller in 2025, and two sisters, Patricia “Trish” Warner (Richard) and Sandra “Dolly” Eckenrode (Robert).

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 10 -12 noon at the Thomas L Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where military honors will be rendered at 12 noon. Services and interment will be private. The family would like to thank Mercy House and Heartland Hospice for the care they provided their Dad.
