Sandy was born on February 17,1950, to the late Raymond H. Byers and Gloria L. (Custer) Byers. She grew up in the Shepherdstown, WV area, attending Shepherdstown Elementary and Shepherdstown High Schools, and graduated from Shepherd College in 1972 with a degree in English Education. Her own teaching career took her to Loudoun County, VA (7 y); Jefferson County, WV (1 y); and to the Waynesboro Area School District, PA (25 y). She retired in 2005.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Clifford G. Kaiser, whom she met on an arranged blind date for New Years Eve 1971. They married on August 20, 1977. A memorable time in their married lives together was a month-long driving/camping adventure to Alaska to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They were best friends, as well as partners.
Additional survivors are daughters: Amanda(Chuck), Fayetteville and Emily, York Springs; brother, Mike H. Byers (Leslie) in TN.; grandchildren Andrea & Andrew in York Springs, and Ashley & Audrey in Kentucky; Siblings-in-law: Richard Kaiser (Linda), Trudy Stoner(John), Joyce Rowe(Rodney), Luann Custer (Bill); and a very special aunt, Kate Berkstresser, (Fulton County, PA).
Additionally, a number of cousins in WV, MD, and PA as well as nieces & nephews: Ronnie, Marc, Diana, Michelle, Becky, Kathy, Rick, Ben, Rich, Wesley, Mary, Matthew, Jonathan; and many friends acquired over years of teaching together; high school friends aka “The Golden Girls”; the card ladies and friends from her church family at New Guilford BIC Church in Fayetteville.

Sandy’s interests over the years included a variety of crafts of many kinds, photography, car rides, puzzles, collecting Santa Clauses, working w/MOPS group at church, and caring for her dear grandchildren as they grew up. She enjoyed being around others and loved to laugh and kid around…puns were her specialty.
