Fayetteville

Sandra Joyce Ubele, lovingly known as “Grammy” to her 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, in Fayetteville, PA, at the age of 87.

Born on July 16, 1939, in Philadelphia, Sandra was the only child of Pellman and Pearl Williman. She grew up in Northeast Philadelphia and remained incredibly close to her loving parents throughout their lives. Her strong Catholic faith was an important part of who she was, and she carried that faith into a life of service, including her work with the Catholic Church and her years as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Doylestown, PA.

Sandra had a lifelong love of travel. As a young woman, she spent several years living in Italy, a place that remained especially dear to her throughout her life. She also enjoyed shopping, watching her favorite television shows, running, exercising, and painting pottery.

Sandra met her husband of more than 60 years, Harry Ubele, at a dance, and they married in 1960. Together, they built a life centered around the things they loved most: their family, cruising around the world, and enjoying a good meal together.

She was a devoted mother and an especially proud Grammy. Her children and grandchildren were at the center of her world, and she made sure they knew it. Sandra and Harry regularly traveled to visit their children, and Sandra loved staying connected to her large family through frequent phone calls. She babysat her grandchildren often, spoiled them whenever she could, and built a close and loving relationship with every one of them. Being a Grammy was one of the greatest joys of her life.

Sandra also had an extraordinary love for animals. Throughout her life, she shared her home with several cherished pets and was a passionate advocate for animals.

Sandra will be remembered for her infectious sense of humor, generous heart, strong faith, love of animals, and, above all, the deep love she had for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry, in 2023.

She is survived by her four children: Robin Bernens and her husband, Leonard, and their children, Jason, Brian, Alyssa, and Jacob, and grandchildren, Willow, Lucas, Ezra, and Josie; Karen Morris and her husband, Scott, and their children, Megan, Matthew, and Adrianna; Douglas Ubele and his wife, Donna, and their children, Christopher, Justin, Joshua, and Amanda; and David Ubele and his children, Britney and Belle.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, at St. Paul the Apostle in Annville, PA, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private and held at Fort Indiantown Gap with immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Sandra’s memory may make a donation to the Bucks County SPCA in recognition of her lifelong love and advocacy for animals. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. geiselfuneralhome.com
